The First Meet-up!

To catch y’all up: Scott Metzger, Founder & CEO of Freetail Brewing Company out of San Antonio, announced plans to expand Freetail Brewing, and Houston is on the short-list! Resident beer nerd and Texas Girls’ Pint Out leader, Jennifer Litz, took to action! She, along with Casey Wolff, organized a meet-up at Flying Saucer to discuss a game plan to show Scott the interest and enthusiasm for a new brewpub in Houston. Y’all know that since Two Rows close last month, Houston is now brewpub-less, we cannot let this go on any longer!

Several people vital to the Houston Beer scene (and craft beer in general) showed up to show support for the cause. Ronnie Crocker from the Beer, TX blog on the Houston Chronicle came, along with the Craft Brewing Revolutionary Guard, who are organizing the Texas Beer Festival slated for next year in May. There were also several local beer enthusiasts there, but it was definitely just the beginning. We need more people willing to show their support to rectify the current travesty that is Houston’s brewpub scene, or lack thereof. My wife and I enjoyed going to Freetail in San Antonio earlier this year on a road trip. Scott gave us a little tour of their brewing process. Let’s get Freetail to Houston! That would ROCK!

  4. air says:

You guys definitely have my support too. I may live in Dallas now, but Houston is my home town and I’m also excited about the possibility of Freetail moving in that direction!
